This is my oldest daughter in her 6th grade play, "The Castaways". The story is similar to Oliver Twist but set in New York City. I learned that my own great grandmother was a castaway, an orphan, working as a preteen to support her younger brother in NYC.

I loved every minute of watching this show develop. My dd was wonderful, but all the kids were. There were many stars and the director tries to pick shows with no real "leads" so everyone gets to shine. My mom even helped with costumes - brought me back to the days when I was in 6th grade and she costumed all of our shows then.

Funny how life doesn't always happen the way we plan. She does look happy on the stage, though. Still wondering what direction my kids are going to take.
